If you do you are not alone. The writer in Psalm 44 felt rejected, despised, and crushed. This in spite of the fact that the people hadn’t turned their back on God or become unfaithful. This whole chapter is full of pain and depression. It speaks of the faithful as rejected by God[ref]Psalm 44:10[/ref].

Psalms 44:22 is later cited by Paul in his letter to the Romans. Romans 8:35-39 states that believers will go through trials, even death for their faith. By citing Psalm 44:22, we can see that trials and death for believers are nothing new. We’re not left there though. Even though we can feel rejected by God, persecuted unjustly (we can feel this in spite of living rightly), we can know that the battle rages but the war is won.

So when you’re feeling separated and alone, remember that nothing can separate us from the love of God or change the fact that we are conquerors.
