I don’t normally rant about things and hopefully this doesn’t come across as one but sometimes enough is enough!

So God created man in His own image; He created him in the image of God; He created them male and female. Genesis 1:27

Growing up I never thought it would be like this. I feel as though I have a front row seat in the Coliseum where Western Civilization is being ripped and torn apart. All the while the crowd goes wild, cheering it on, laughing to each other. As history unfolds, I want to grab people and shout, “Why can’t you see what is happening?!?!”

How does this relate with Genesis 1:27?

The qualities of being kind and respectful to one another are almost gone. Where they are found, they are mocked. By “one another” I mean fellow humans made “in the image of God.” Every one of them. Whether one talks about abortion, mass killings, non-stop war, dissolution of sexual mores, sometimes terrible treatment of veterans, lack of concern for the homeless, porn, pushing drugs, child abuse, or one of any other hundreds of things that occur daily; these are all assaults on a people made in God’s image. Of course, with the self-wrought decline in Christianity, why would anyone expect people to respect God’s image? More on that another time.

People that know better, people in my generation, that should be setting the tone, too easily dismiss their own responsibility to be examples. They join in the crowd’s cheering when their own particular style of disrespect to the image comes up. All the while they lament the decline of our culture.

Think culture is going down the toilet? Well, stop contributing to it. Want to see change? Grow up and stop being a self-centered, mask-wearing fake. Think the world is falling apart around you? Examine yourself. I am not throwing stones here. I’ve done plenty of my own cheering without realization in the past. My own feet ran after evil. My own thoughts were sinful thoughts on a path full of ruin and wretchedness and I was completely unaware. Praise God for opening my eyes!

Now, if only other people could be blessed enough to fess-up the error of their ways. If I can, I know others can. Doing so is painful and embarrassing. It is also life-giving to yourself and those around you. If that can happen then maybe, maybe cheering each other to destroy will subside a bit and we can start encouraging one another. Maybe if we see others as truly valuable, we’ll respect them and treat them as they deserve.

If that was a rant it is over now.
