  • Compartmentalizing Our Lives

    Jared Wilson at the Gospel Coalition writes that:

    any time any human being is dealing with utter emptiness and lack of fulfillment in life, it is the result of the God-embedded message in them that they need him.

    This article talks about how compartmentalizing our lives leads to a loss of our spiritual selves. It also reinforces a theme I see again and again. As humans when we leave God out of our lives, or ignore his express directives, we inevitably get it wrong. The Bible is full of stories that illustrate this point. For instance when Samuel informs Saul, “to obey is better than to sacrifice” (1 SAM 15:22 CSB).

    I don’t normally rant about things and hopefully this doesn’t come across as one but sometimes enough is enough!

    So God created man in His own image; He created him in the image of God; He created them male and female. Genesis 1:27

    Growing up I never thought it would be like this. I feel as though I have a front row seat in the Coliseum where Western Civilization is being ripped and torn apart. All the while the crowd goes wild, cheering it on, laughing to each other. As history unfolds, I want to grab people and shout, “Why can’t you see what is happening?!?!”

  • Where are you building?

    Where are you building?

    While out camping for a week my family couldn’t help but notice so many nice RVs. There were many travel trailers and motor-homes much nicer than the one we were in.

    It was a wonderful opportunity to talk to the children about both being thankful and to remind them that our possessions don’t go with us.

    I pursued the world for years. I thought the world had it right. Get enough money, success, respect or whatever and you can consider yourself to have made it. But anything built on the wrong foundation is worthless. (more…)

    Gentle Rain

    It is so pleasant to get away from the busyness that distracts us from the truly important. I have been sitting under an awning looking at these trees for over an hour. I’ve been listening to what must be the lightest rain I’ve experienced tap on the awning.

    What a wonderful, encouraging verse. When we think God is taking His sweet time, He is, for our good.

    He is patient with us to keep us from perishing. What a wonderful love, to put up with us in our wrongheaded ways, our refusal to repent and still He waits.
